Rules of participation
The conference is aimed at specialists in the Western European Middle Ages and Early Modern times, but we will be glad to see the participation of colleagues studying other regions.
Employees of research institutes, university professors, assistant professors, research fellowes of museums, archives and libraries who have scientific publications on medieval studies are all welcome.
For early career scholars
Early career scholars and graduate students can participate both as part of research groups and projects and individually. Applications of postgraduate students are accepted on general terms. Students’ applications are considered only with the reference of a research supervisor or as part of a research group.
Papers and presentations of research projects should be on traditional research fields of Russian medieval studies: social, economic, political, and institutional history, cultural history, intellectual and gender history, anthropology, legal history, the history of books, special and auxiliary historical disciplines, and a wide range of topics and problems.

The participation in the conference and publication of abstracts are free of charge. There are no grants for tickets, hotel, meals, and other expenses. All expenditure concerning the attendance of the conference is at the cost of the participants.
The official and working language of the conference is Russian. Applications and abstracts are accepted in all major European languages.
Forms of participation
The following forms of participation are planned at the conference:
- papers presenting new research results;
- presentations of specialized professional editions on medieval studies published in 2018-2022 by academic institutes and universities (monographs, publications of sources, thematic collections, yearbooks, journals), presentations of research projects.
Reports and presentations will take place in:
1) thematic sessions for individual papers, presentations of publications and research groups' projects (grants within the framework of competitions for fundamental research);
4) sessions for presentations of major professional editions on medieval studies (yearbooks, journal issues).
Time regulations:
15 min for individual papers and presentations of individual research projects;
up to 30 minutes for presentations of collective research projects (grants of research groups for fundamental research);
up to 10 min for presentation of editions;
45 min for individual lectures at seminars.
The time regulations for presentations at round tables are made by the agreement with the organizers of the round table, at sessions for presentations of major professional editions - by the agreement with the organizing committee of the conference.
Text for publication:
up to 3,000 characters (including spaces) for individual papers;
up to 5,000 characters (including spaces) for presentations of collective research projects (grants of research groups for fundamental research).
Optionally, participants can submit video files in addition to or instead of written abstracts. The video should be:
5 to 10 minutes long for individual presentations;
5 to 15 minutes long for presentations of collective research projects;
3 to 10 minutes long for the presentation of one edition.
Abstracts

Abstracts are accepted before March 15, 2022 in two formats (at the applicant’s choice): in the form of a text and/or a video file (optionally, participants can submit video files of abstracts and presentations in addition to or instead of written abstracts).
It is possible to submit an application to two or three sessions at once, but only if one of them is an individual paper, and the other is given as part of a research group or is a presentation of publications.
The collection of abstracts (preprint) will be published in electronic form before the conference and posted at the conference and IGH RAS websites. Simultaneously, the submitted video abstracts will be posted on the Youtube channel of the conference. The video files of the presentations will be posted as they become available.
All abstracts and applications are selected in compliance with the format and scientific level of the conference. The results of the selection will be reported to the participants by March 30, 2022. Abstracts that do not meet these requirements, do not have an electronic version in a format compatible with MS Word or mp4, arranged not according to the requirements for abstracts, not accompanied by the information about the author, or received after the deadline, are not considered by the Organizing Committee. Applications and abstracts are not reviewed.
